1. (Common Noun) It is a small white bird and member of the monotypic genus Bubulcus of family Ardeidae.It is widespread in India, often found in dry grassy habitats and feeds on insects,especially grasshoppers and is usually found with cattle and other large animals. The non-breeding adult has all-white plumage with a yellow bill, and greyish-yellow legs. When breeding once developes orange buff feathers on the back, breast and head and legs becomes more brighter. The sexes are similar, but juvenile birds have a black bill.
